What this is

imissfiles is a set of 56 file tools that run in your web browser. The work happens on your device, using code the page downloads. There is no account, no sign-up, and nothing to log in to. Using the site is the whole agreement.

Your files

Nothing you drop on this site is uploaded, stored, or sent to imissfiles. Files are read into your browser's memory, processed there, and written back out as a download. When you close or reload the tab, the working copy is gone. There is no endpoint in the code that could receive a file, which is why this is a statement about how the site is built rather than a promise about how we behave.

You do not have to take that on trust. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network panel, and run a conversion — no request carries your file. The method is written out here and works on any website.

No warranty

The tools are provided as they are, with no guarantee of accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. Some of what they do is genuinely lossy, and the tool pages say so: compressing a PDF turns pages into images and costs the text layer, text recognition is a best guess from pixels rather than a lookup, and converting a PDF to Word reconstructs paragraphs rather than recovering the original document.

A scanned PDF has no text layer until you run OCR on it. Removing a restriction from a PDF is a technical operation, not legal advice, and whether you are entitled to do it is your judgement, not ours. You are responsible for the files you process here and for what you do with the output. Check anything that matters against the original before relying on it.

Ads

Display advertising pays for hosting. Ads and analytics load on the page and are described in full on the privacy policy. They never receive your file, because the file never leaves your browser tab. There is no premium tier, and no tool is held back behind payment.

Acceptable use

Do not use these tools to do anything unlawful, and do not attempt to overload, disrupt, or automate abusive volumes of traffic against the site. Since the processing happens on your own device, the second one mostly hurts you — but the request stands.
